Is it Magic? Or Just 2025?

During our younger years, we've all seen movies and media depicting the far future to have flying cars and have everything to be run by a super intelligent AI. But in the year 2025, maybe we're not too far from that reality as we thought.

Aircraft and helicopters hover over a modern cityscape with skyscrapers under a partly cloudy sky. The scene feels futuristic and busy.

The New Waking World and The Pet-Bot Revolution

2025 has been defined by the rapid development of AI technology. We've moved beyond the early innovations of simple digital assistants that reside within our phones. The new era of AI is lead by heavyweights like chatGPT and Google Gemini, with chatbots so advanced, its being used by the biggest companies around the world. The speed of change is honestly a bit dizzying. Breakthroughs in generative AI through tools like OpenAI's Sora and Elon Musk's xAI are now creating hyper-realistic videos and images instantaneously. It's pretty much comparable to stuff you'd see in Hollywood blockbuster movies.

For a lot of us, this tech feels like magic. But the real shocker comes when this magic now enters our lives, specifically for our pets. If you've been caught up with tech innovations over the last few years, you'll know that "Pet Tech" has been surging in popularity. With recent breakthroughs in spatial intelligence that allow for AI to understand the environment around them better, paired with Edge AI, allow smart pet products to serve our furry companions better. This has manifested in many different ways:

  • AI Facial Recognition & Feeding Control - Smart Feeders and Water dispensers use AI cameras to identify and track pet's individual eating and drinking habits to have better control access to food. This effectively makes managing food a whole lot easier, as it can help with portioning out food and controlling for specific dietary needs.

  • Health Monitoring - Newer cat litter boxes for example, incorporate AI to identify which cat is using the box. These smart litter boxes also enable owners to monitor the weight and identify early signs of potential health issues using applications.

  • Emotional Companion Robots - Family Robots that can roam around and entertain using AI. Similar to how a smart robot cleaner would work, these bots use spatial technology to move. These bots even have camera functions, to allow pet owners to connect to and converse with their pets digitally.

Bottom Line

It’s easy to get caught up in the jargon, but at the end of the day, these advancements are centered around connection and care. Society is using AI to bridge the gap between us and our pets, ensuring they are healthy, fed, and happy even when we cannot be physically there for them. These advancements remind us that it's only going to go uphill from here on out; With every new innovation, AI is slowly becoming the invisible backbone for those we love most.

Cheers to the new year ahead of us!
